and then remember in Never Been Kissed when a grown woman goes undercover as a teenager and has a crush on a 17 year old “coolest kid in school” character that she recognizes is just residual feelings from her own first failed high school experience and then develops a connection with a teacher, making the teacher question his entire moral code because he doesn’t know why hes having feelings for a 17 year old girl but later forgives her for lying and making him feel like a pedophile
but even more horrifying than that is that the woman’s brother, also an adult in his 20s, goes undercover as a high school student too to help her get a boost in popularity and he actually starts dating a teenage girl, not just any teenage girl, a sophomore, and they presumably kiss and fool around a bit and when she tells him she’s ready to have sex he’s like “oh no what a dilemma what should i do nooooow?” but never willingly tells her the truth about his age and instead has to be outed by his sister.
Hey remember that ~rom com~ 40 days and 40 nights when Josh Hartnett vows not to jizz the entirety of Lent and then right before the end of Lent his ex girlfriend rapes him and his new girlfriend accuses him of cheating and then breaks up with him???
Like that plot point wasn’t even treated like it was rape. It was legit like “oh no! the evil ex girlfriend made him lose his bet!!!”
